Chromium is an open source browser project that aims to create a safer, faster and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the Web.
This is the open source web browser project from which Google Chrome extracts its source code.
The project’s 64-bit per hour Chromium snapshots seem essentially similar to the latest versions of Google Chrome, with the exception of the omission of certain Google additions, the most notable of which: the Google brand, the update mechanism automatic update, Click license terms, track usage and Adobe Flash Player package.

The Project application takes its name from the element chrome (Cr), the metal from which chrome is made.
Google’s intention, as expressed in the developer documentation, was that Chromium is the name of the open source project and that the name of the end product is Chrome.
However, other developers have taken the code and released versions under the name.
Differences between Chrome and Google Chrome The program is the name given to the open source project and the source code of the browser published and maintained by the Project tool.
It is possible to install the latest precompiled snapshots for Windows, Linux and Mac, or download the source code and compile it manually on these platforms.
Google takes this source code and adds a built-in Flash player, Google’s name and logo, an automatic update system called GoogleUpdate, an optional option for users to send usage statistics and bug reports to Google, as well as, in some cases, RLZ tracking that transmits information in encrypted form to Google, for example, when and where Chrome was downloaded.
By default, the app is only compatible with Vorbis, Theora and WebM codecs for HTML5 audio and video tags, while Google Chrome supports them in addition to H.264, AAC and MP3.
Some Linux distributions may add support for other codecs to their custom versions of the browser.
